Inktober was started by Jake Parker back in, I don’t remember the year, but the point is he created it to promote regular drawing habits among aspiring illustrators. I count myself in that category.
The idea is that if you can draw something everyday for a month you’ll be able to maintain a certain level of art production after that. It happens every October and all you have to do to participate is post a drawing on social media with the hashtag #inktober. I like to post my work on Instagram under the handle @hellopinello.
Here’s my contribution to the first week. The first two are portraits of myself and my fiancée. The rest follow a Halloween theme cuz Halloween’s my favorite.
Inktober is upon us! For the last week I’ve been posting daily drawings on Instagram and Twitter. In between my usual posts I’ll post recaps from Inktober. I like this drawing so much that I think I’ll color it and make a print. He’s Ba’Gel the cosmic deity of creativity. I plan on introducing him in Little Dog Comics in the future. Think of him like the Muse from Greek Mythology.
The Little Dog Comics Giveaway is still going on. Only two people have entered so far so your chances of winning are nearly 100%. Check out the Win Original Art post for more details.
Last thing, I could use a little help keeping the site going. I love making art and comics and will keep posting them here for free no matter what. But there are some costs associated with doing this. If you want to help please subscribe to Little Dog Comics at Patreon for just $1 a month. The best thing you can do, though, is tell your friends about the site.
Kid Universal, the pint-sized powerhouse vs. Sherman, the titanium titan. Two robots battling it out in the Rock’Em Sock’Em match of any century. Kid flies in with a haymaker -and wait- Sherman goes down. The match is over already? Guess the the notorious time disruptor isn’t as bad as everyone thought. The story concludes in the next installment of Kid Universal.
I’m sorry to leave everyone hanging but the final page won’t be ready to post until October 2nd but please check in next Friday for some watercolor portraits of Kid and Sherman.
Next month I’ll be participating in Inktober, a daily drawing challenge started by Jake Parker. You can follow my progress on Instagram and Twitter @hellopinello for both accounts. Also, I’ll post the daily drawings on the Little Dog Comics Facebook page. To see other people who are participating check the hashtag #inktober on all of your social media sites. Inktober begins October 1st and runs through the whole month.
I have one last announcement to make. October 27th is the first anniversary of Little Dog Comics. To celebrate I’m giving away a bunch of art and prints. Come back Wednesday September 24th for details on how you can win.
